The Balakovo NPP is the largest electricity producer in Russia.
VVER-1000 reactors (V-320 project) are operated at the NPP. The each power unit of the Balakovo NPP uses a double-circuit thermal circuit. Each of the unified power units is a stand-alone structure consisting of a reactor room, a turbine room, a deaerator stack and an electrical room. The equipment of the primary circuit is located together with the reactor in a sealed reinforced concrete enclosure lined with a steel sheet from the inside – a containment. The source of the NPP circulating water supply is a cooling water reservoir. Modular stations and industrial water supply pipelines are located between the cooling water reservoir and the main buildings of the power units.
